The students are highly competitive in academics and extra curricular activities. They are well aware of the Quality Management System like ISO:9000, Six sigma and Environmental Management System ISO:14000.
The Centre for Biotechnology and Nanotechnology
Biotechnology is emerging as a promising economic sector expecting its contribution upto about 50% of worlds economy in the near future. The novel techniques in biotechnology like r - DNA technology, genetic engineering, Transgenics and cell and tissue culture have far reaching impact on Agriculture, Pharmacuticals, Diagnostics, Bioenergy, Natural resources conservation and Management. The production of molecular medicines for correction of such diseases like Aids, Cancer, Diabetes and ailments of vital organs such as Liver, Kidney and Heart are contributions of biotechnology. Modern vaccines and antibiotics based on biotechnology have proved to be a boon to mankind.
The Department of Biotechnology and BiochemicalEngineering has developed into a centre of excellence for biotechnology teaching and research with reputed scientists and engineers who have excelled in their respective fields of specialization. A centre for Biotechnology and Nanotechnology (CBN) has been formed under the department of Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering. The primary aim of this centre is to carry out applied research in areas which will be beneficial to the industry and society in general.
