NSS
Launched in 1969, the Birth Centenary year of Mahatma Gandhi, as a student youth service programme, National Service Scheme (NSS) aims at arousing social consciousness of the youth with an overall objective of personality development of the youth through community service. Youth have to play a catalytic role in accelerating the process of national development. Their boundless energy and innate idealism could introduce into the various development activities a direction which could bring about the social transformation needed to make it suitable for their own future.
Programmes :
- Annual special camp (10 days – 240 hrs)
- Regular activities (120 hrs in a year)
NSS at SBCE :
The NSS unit of SBCE has come a long way since its launch in the later part of 2004. The unit’s activities focus on the gradual development of the personality through sustained interactions, among themselves, community and nature. These interactions give the students valuable experience, which would definitely hold them in good stead in their future endeavors.

Women's Cell
The women's cell is a statutory body under the University of Kerala functioning in the college. It aims at addressing the special requirements of women both within the campus and the society. The noted journalist, Sri. Thengamam Balakrishnan inaugurated the women's cell and a poster competition with the theme "Anti-Dowry" was held in conjunction with it. The women's cell serves as a platform for the female students to get together, voice their grievances and discuss relevant issues.
